Denver --> Lawrence, KS. Played last night to a packed room, a thousand miles from home. It's strange to not have the security of knowing we will meet up with another band every night, but so many of the people we meet help to restore my faith in people, and that is a reassurance I constantly need. My nose is burning and I don't know why. I guess it's pretty dry out here. I sure am glad I don't live in Kansas.

I could feel a general air of dissatisfaction as we pulled off the freeway late last night. We could have been out there twice as long and I still wouldn't have wanted to come home. However, I am able to look at things differently now. I realized that I don't need to work a shit job just because its convenient. I don't need to be stuck in this bubble where the freeways end and everybody is drunk off olde english, trying to get money off me at the gas station. For now, I've got the next 6 weeks to plan and prepare for next tour. Fuck it all.

So much has happened in the past few days, I don't even know where to begin. I wish I could update more often, but spotty internet on a borrowed laptop coupled with very little time makes it difficult. New Haven was really nice. We bumped into Paul Giamatti outside our show, met some great people, and stayed with new friends Kyle and Karen, who had some really awesome cats. And we got to get breakfast with Mallory on our way out of town.
We headed to NYC that morning and it was hard to process. NYC is one of my favorite cities, but spending 24 hours there is kind of like someone trying to tell you the entire plot of a movie in one sentence. The show kinda sucked but we got a lot of free beer and got to party with a bunch of friends in the city.
After a great show in Long Island the following day we drove halfway through the night to some town in upstate New York, slept a few hours, and then crossed up into Canada with no problems. The second we crossed the border i was ecstatic. Driving into Montreal in early evening was magical and I fell in love with the city once again. Canada has treated us very very well thus far. Its strange to be so close to the US border, yet things are much different here. People are nice, towns are clean. I have been in Canada for two whole days and I can count the amount of cops I have seen on one hand. The people of Montreal filled us with free drinks and confidence and we drove through the night across Canada and I thought about all the people who have said wonderful things to us, the kids we've met who drove 4+ hours to see us, and all the great new friends we have met and I feel like I am doing what I should be. I couldn't have asked for a better tour and I feel as though I could do this for years.
Tonight we play Toronto, our last show with our new friends. Then we are back on our own, with three more shows till home. Back to work, idle boredom, and a dull routine. Until then, FTWWWWW

Jim Morrison memorial neck tatt

Today is our one week mark.
Everything has been going really well so far. Saturday night we played in Boston. It was really great and we partied really really hard with friends after the show. So far all the venues have been cool with us playing on the floor, which is really awesome. it sucks playing on a big stage when people are still coming in and the floor isn't packed. I finally got a good cup of coffee in Boston. 3200 miles across the US and the only good coffee I could get was the stuff I brought along with me. I hope that at some point you can get a decent cup in every major city, but most people are cool with Folger's, so I'm not holdin' my breath.
Last night we played Holyoke, MA. We got out to the show with like 4 hours to kill, and since we had the wrong address, ended up on the opposite end of town. It looked fucked. As someone who is very comfortable in every part of Los Angeles, I was out of my comfort zone there. We were circling the block in this minivan with california plates and a roof rack, and dudes on the street were looking at us like we should NOT be there. Western Mass is really beautiful and Holyoke is right down on the river, so being from LA, its really interesting to see a bad neighborhood have such beautiful scenery.
After last nights show we drove to Providence, RI and got a motel. Its going to be awesome not having to drive at all today, for the first time in a week. My pillow smells like a combination of many places I have been in the last several days. Its comforting.
